Koke-Dera
Koke-dera Temple (official Name is Saiho-ji Temple) is said that Prince Regent Shotoku made the predecessor villa and Buddha in it during the Asuka Era. In Nara Era, Monseigneur Gyoki changed temple from villa. In Kamakura Era, Hounen changed it into Jodo-shu sect. The famous temples, Kinkaku-ji Temple (the Golden Pavilion) and Ginkaku-ji Temple (the Silver Pavilion) copied this temple and were constructed in 15th century. Koke which is the name of this temple means moss. This moss started to cover up to the garden during late Edo Era. It is necessary to make the reservation in advance for visit.
