Kyo-mai (Kyoto style traditional Japanese dance)

Odori is traditional Japanese dance played by mainly Maiko and Geiko (Geisha is called “Geiko” in Kyoto)

Miyako Odori : Aprl 1st – April 30 / held at Gion-kobu-Kaburenjo Theater by Maiko and Geiko of Gion Kobu Kagai (entertainment district)
Kamogawa Odori : May 1st – late May / held at Pontcho-Kaburenjo Theater by Maiko and Geiko of Pontocho Kagai (entertainment district)
Kitano Odori : Late March – early April / held at Kamishitiken-Kaburenjo Theater by Maiko and Geiko of Kamishichiken Kagai (entertainment district)
Kyo Odori : 1st Saturday of April – 3rd Sunday of April / held at Miyagawacho-Kaburenjo Theater by Maiko and Geiko of Miyagawacho Kagai (entertainment district)
Gion Odori : Novenber 1st – Novenber 10th / held at Gion Kaikan Theater by Maiko and Geiko of Gion Higashi Kagai (entertainment district)

Strictly speaking, Miyako Odori is only recognized as Kyo-mai. However, it is very difficult for general people to identify the difference between Kyo-mai and the others.
